Follow along with me and watch as my good friend builds his family dream home. If you pay close enough attention you could end up with an invite to the grand opening deck party. If you get to know him you might end up with a life long pass for a bonus beverage when playing the back 9!
If you are going to have an entrance like this you hope there is something exciting at the end. You won’t be able to see this house from the road so you will have to use your imagination. One would assume a house with a driveway like this will have to be special. All early indicators point to this being true. This one of a kind lot for Gray’s Crossing starts with a winding driveway that covers almost 100 yards. At the end lays one of the largest parcels the community has to offer. It is on the golf course too, but it is not just a golf course frontage site. This unique home-site is on the 10th and 11th fairway. How is that so. Well the opportunity presented itself with the 10th hole going out and then the 11th comes back in a links style about face with a nice sized parcel of forest land in-between that was the perfect setting for a special home-site. The beauty of it is the home still has a fantastic forest setting feel. The developers did a very nice job of not letting the homes encroach on the golf course and vice-versa.There is a nice buffer, just enough but not too much. Here you have the views provided by the golf course but at the same time enough setback for privacy.
Mountain Concepts Design led by David Spear looks like they nailed it with the early site visits. David has already done premier projects around Truckee with many projects in Martis Camp and Gray’s Crossing. John McCabe Construction is bringing the vision to life as he
Now let’s watch the project come to life together.
The foundation is going in now. As you can see from this shot the home receives a nice shot of sun coming in over the 11th hole to go along with your shot of espresso first thing in the morning.
In the other direction is a nice morning view of the sun touching the 10th fairway.
If you haven’t seen a foundation go in for any house, much less a 4,000 square foot beauty with a pass through from the bar to the back deck outside sports entertainment area, you would be amazed at the complexity. The efficiency that an experienced crew works while laying the foundation is also something to behold. There must have been 12 guys with all seeming to know exactly what the other was doing.
For our next visit we should see a lot of vertical action. This will be a regular series of posts following the build
