Olympic Valley – Palisades Tahoe
Olympic Valley is the proper name. After being known as Squaw Valley for almost 100 years the ski area changed the name and is now referred to as Palisades Tahoe. Olympic Valley is the home of the 1960 Olympics and the world famous formerly known Squaw Valley, USA ski area. The mountain is known for extreme skiing and the amazing setting. Past, present and future Olympians regularly spend time on the chairlifts of KT-22 and still live and work in the Valley. The most recent and current World Cup star to claim the area as their home mountain is Bryce Bennett. There is great bike path access from Olympic Valley all the way to Tahoe City, which is 5 miles away. The mountain biking and hiking options are endless. Homes in the valley can range from $1,000,000 (barely and that would be an extreme fixer) to $6+ Million. Condo options abound in the valley between the Village at Palisades, The Lodge, Everline Resort and the original Olympic Valley condos that have been in place since the Olympics. Condos range from $300,000+ for a studio to $2 Million. Home and condo purchases in the valley are almost unanimously driven by access to the ski area, whether it be for kids on race teams or just general ski area access. The combination of Alpine Meadows and Palisades on the Ikon ski pass is a bonus. The new gondola connecting the two is a fun addition. Olympic Valley is 11 miles from Truckee.
