North Lake Tahoe – Tahoe City
North Lake Tahoe, for the purposes of California real estate, is defined by starting at the Y in Tahoe City and extends to the stateline just past Kings Beach. Real estate in North Lake ranges from the majestic $20 Million dollar lakefronts down to $300,000 studios. One bedrooms run in the $500,000 range for condos. Sometimes they are even across the street from each other! There is a charm and feel on the North Shore that is hard to miss. If the housing was less expensive than Truckee I would probably be living there somewhere along the bike path. One of my wife’s favorite things to do is to ride her bike to one of the beaches along Lake Tahoe for an afternoon of reading and relaxing in the sun. I know she misses this from her days of living at the lake and in Squaw Valley. Tahoe City has gone through a few phases since I moved to Tahoe. I have some very well traveled clients that state Tahoe City as their favorite town anywhere to spend time. There are a handful of communities along the North Shore that offer lake access amenities led by the ever popular Dollar Point. Dollar Point doesn’t just offer lake access but swimming, tennis and buoy access. The communities blend together as one drives along HW 28 and hardly notices the transitions from Cedar Flat, Agate Bay, Carnelian Bay and Tahoe VIsta to Kings Beach. Kings Beach is emerging with their corridor improvement project and an emerging area for full-time families and second homeowners alike to enjoy. Kings Beach offers great access to Northstar and Tahoe City to Palisades / Alpine Meadows with Gar Woods being about the middle point. It is hard to go wrong in life along the North Shore of Lake Tahoe.
