Lahontan led the way with in the migration of high end real estate away from the Tahoe Basin in the new age of Truckee development in the 1990’s. Lahontan is a successful gated community grounded by their very private Tom Weiskopf designed golf course. It is a fantastic golf course. The equity membership is very healthy. The current, during winter of 2024, asking price for a membership is $175,000. A few memberships sold over $200,000 in 2023. The Lahontan Lodge anchors the community with its rustic style and is complemented by perfectly suited men’s and ladies locker room facilities, fitness center, spa, a great golf practice facility and Camp Lahontan which is the family pool and tennis center. Old Tahoe architecture is the predominant theme of architecture but recent times have seen more modern designs coming through and being approved by the design review board. Lahontan homes sell range from just under $3 million to up over $6 million dollars. With the blend of Old Tahoe homes that can now be up to 25 years old and brand new mountain modern designs two distinct market segments have developed in Lahontan. Located within minutes of downtown Truckee and with views of Northstar from all corners of the community the location is fantastic. Northstar and Palisades Tahoe are short drives away. Lahontan does not have direct ski access to Northstar.
