DFRE Cool House Update This version of my DFRE Cool House of the Week dispels the myth that I only think houses of the $2 million and up variety are cool! This Alpine Meadows home sits above the creek with a peaceful view down on it. Very cool and very soothing. Actually I am quite surprised their pictures don't show a more direct picture of it. Even with no snow pack to speak of it was Continue Reading
July Market Update
Happy post 4th of July Summer! A year ago, the average price of real estate in the Tahoe-Truckee region far outpaced the median price in a year that saw strong overall growth. This dynamic was driven by an exceptional sales volume in the luxury segment, largely within the many new luxury resort communities in the greater Truckee / Martis Valley region. These communities have tremendous appeal Continue Reading
Building Trends
New Building Trends On the higher end builds, $1 million and up and in the newer resort communities, I am seeing an emphasis on modern builds but with a mountain feel still. Shed roofs are very popular with their modern look. Green or LEED certified building is also a big talking point but the reality of this building is the expense. It is still too expensive for the more moderately Continue Reading
Winter 2015 Market Update
Greetings - At Tahoe Mountain Realty, we have long had a saying that market conditions override the season. Never has that been put to the test more than the first third of 2015. It is fascinating to observe the fight between economic conditions and seasonal considerations as the dominant driver of the Lake Tahoe real estate market. There is a retail component to Tahoe real estate that Continue Reading

2014 Truckee-Tahoe Market Update
Good afternoon, The adage “quality over quantity” best sums-up the Tahoe-Truckee real estate market for 2014. With soaring economic conditions in the San Francisco Bay Area, more and more families made their way to Lake Tahoe to spend quality time together. This demand for home ownership led to a second straight year of over $1 billion in sales -- the first time since Continue Reading
Dead Tree
My son and I were skiing past Dead Tree the other day. It is our favorite run. It was closed but we both stopped despite knowing when you kill your speed and it isn’t open you have to skate uphill about thirty yards for your next downhill access. The dead tree was more than dead. It was gone. We both just said “it’s gone.” The dead tree that marks the run called Dead Tree was gone. It had finally Continue Reading
