E.J. Tegner Let’s Bet on Youth Golf Fundraiser
EJ Tegner Golf Foundation for Children “Let’s Bet on Youth” Golf Tournament Fundraiser
Thursday May 7th, Old Greenwood Golf Course
$100 Per Player
This is another special golf opportunity to support junior golf specifically and to have a great time doing so. A dear friend to the game of golf, and obviously to junior golf as you will read, E.J. Tegner, passed away last summer while playing golf at Old Greenwood. In memory of E.J. his wife Marilyn Wood, owner of Marilyn’s Catwalk in Truckee, started the E.J. Tegner Junior Golf Foundation. The endowment was started with $100,000 from Marilyn. Where and how the proceeds will be used are still being determined but will be solely focused on junior golf enhancing the lives of kids in our community. It could result in college scholarships, junior golf programs or maybe First Tee programs. At this point the options are limitless and the program is entrenched. Very exciting! A check for $100,000 to start the endowment is always a great start! Sometimes from tragedy comes greatness. The Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation will be managing the funds with the direction of the E.J. Tegner Junior Golf Foundation Board. I have been asked to sit on the board which is in the process of being formed. For those of you that don’t know I am a PGA of America Member and started and run the Truckee Tahoe Junior Golf Tour, www.ttjgt.com which is why I have been asked to participate. It is all very exciting and a unique opportunity for us all to contribute right from the beginning.
Old Greenwood continues to be a huge supporter of junior golf and our kids. Old Greenwood has graciously offered to host the 1st Annual Let’s Bet on Youth Golf Tournament in support of the E.J. Tegner Golf Foundation for Children. Old Greenwood and the Tahoe Mountain Club are donating the golf course 100% for the day. They aren’t even collecting a cart fee. All proceeds go to the foundation. The tournament will be held on Thursday May 7th at Old Greenwood.
Bring your own 4-some, or enter on your own or as a 2-some. $100 per player. You play your own ball. Great prizes from local businesses have already been acquired. Sign up online at the website above or at the Old Greenwood golf shop with the attached registration form. The number of players is limited. The tournament flyer is attached below as well. If you can’t play this year or the tournament sells out before you can enter please keep this on your list for 2016. It will be a great day.
I will be there and look forward to it being my first round for 2015.
